Nice, eh? ;) it's creepier in full-sized view :P but I liked it! And I normally hate spiders... Though these are harmless spiders and it's really cool to see how God designed them so perfectly! It's just annoying to walk into a web :P and these lil guys are ALL OVER this year!

Ok people... tootin mah own horn here **toot toot** B-) That picture ^^ was perfectly awesome! I love how it turned out :D

^This one ^ is not too bad either, if I may say so myself :D

Dangerous Business

Every morning, I stare into the eyes of Danger.

He always stares right back... then he turns around and wants me to scratch his rump ^_^

He's a pretty smart dog in most ways... but pretty typical in others :P

He's not always cooperative with the camera, though

I live a life of Danger

Be seein you

7 Blessings in the Sunshine

So I'm gettin back into the groove of my photography "obsession" :P I've always enjoyed going out for spontaneous photo shoots, but I've just been too darn busy lately. Well this past week I started up again. I'd nearly forgotten how fun it is :D

My favorite photographic subject has always been my equine companions. Sometimes they're very cooperative, sometimes not. Sometimes it just takes a little imagination to make their uncooperativness work. That's the joy and the challenge in animal photography.
Here to the left is Julie. She's laid up right now with Quittor :(
This is one of my favorite times of year. Well I have a lot of favorite times of year... but this is the time when the green begins to fade to yellow and orange and red and purple... the long rays of sunshine make photography fun.
Munch munch munch.... that's all they do, it seems!
Oakley is recovering from greasy heel... Here she's enjoying the lovely green grass.
I love playing with angles. We have a lot of trees in the northwest pasture, so it adds a fun element to the pictures to throw a tree in here and there. It's kinda like a built-in frame.
Here is Polish helping me demonstrate this concept

One of the most fun parts of my photographic adventures is those shots that just totally work out... usually it's those shots you don't really think about. Though it's more rewarding if you think about the shot first. :P At any rate, I love it when a picture turns out perfectly.

This shot was not set up. Happy was coming to visit me, and I just happened to capture the perfect lighting and pose. It reminds me of some of my horse calendars :P
**pin a ribbon on my shirt** ;P

Sometimes the sun is fun to play around with. Sometimes it kinda messes the pictures up though. Sometimes you can't quite decide if it's a nice effect or a messin-it-up effect :P
I like the way the sun lights his eye. too bad I cut his ears off... :P
Another fun thing about the sun and the trees is dappled sunlight. It's pretty fun to play arouond with, too.
I like this shot. Peacefully grazing in the dappled sunlight.

Remember what I said about playing with angles and the trees? Same goes for old, fallen logs.

I have a slightly better angle, but this one was kinda cool b/c you get the horse AND the barn.

Ok so this is the biggest irritation in my adventures... I get a perfect pose, perfect angle, perfect whateveryouwantinapicture... and it doesn't focus right. It comes out fuzzy. BLAH!

At least this one didn't come out too terribly fuzzy... but it was enough to bug me. Perhaps adding an effect would help ease my mind :P

Another thing about this time of year is that it's starting to cool down... That means fuzzy horses!

Cash is, of course, the fuzziest of them all! Cute, ain't he? ;)

Multi-horse photography is fun to work with... Not always easy, though.

I had a really hard time with the lighting on these. I'll probably throw them in my wannabe photoshop program and fix the color :P There's one for either taste you may have--angled and straight :P

Happy was following me everywhere. But at least he was nice enough to pose here and there ;) The lighting was a little poor in this shot though... :-/

Here's a closeup on Cash's fuzziness. I love those little Arab ears
And here's my poor laid-up cripple again. At least she wasn't limping so bad here...

To round out the perfect 7, I had a picture of Samson, too... but I can't seem to post it right now **sigh** oh well... it's the thought that counts :D Hope you enjoyed the insanity!

I CAN HAS LOLCATZ TRYOUTS

Do you like LOLcatz? I do. I find cats to be very entertaining. Especially when combined with a camera. The nice thing about cats is that not only are they self-entertaining, but they're also a great source of entertainment. Ever watch a kitten discover something? Even if it's a completely inanimate object (such as a rock or a stick), they can manage to entertain themselves with it for hours. Anyway, amongst my little flock of cats, I have my share of comedians and free entertainment. And sometimes they're obliging enough to let me take pictures of them in their silliness.

Here's a good example of what I mean... Barley likes climbing trees, yes. Most cats do. But most cats stay near the trunk. Unless, of course they happen to be pursuing a bird or a squirrel or something. Not Barley though... no... he ventures dangerously far out on a branch to take a nap.

Bitty Bop is no exception to the comedic ring. She's cute, yes, but sometimes I wonder if she doesn't have a few screws loose. Now admitedly, she's innocent in this picture. Peat moss is soft, so it makes a nice bed. It just happens to be funny. Like she's some gardener or something. I'm sure she was trying to convince my mom that she's helping plant blueberries, not sleeping on top of the blueberries like the other cats are! ;)

Oh wait... so much for innocence... A little while later I came back and she had occupied the empty pot next to her brother and daughter. Notice the cute innocent face? Don't be fooled. Cute, yes, innocent, no.

This is one of my cats' favorite comedy acts right here. Their big, dramatic cat-yawns. These make great LOLcatz pictures because you can pretend the cat is saying anything and you'll probably get a good LOL out of it. For example, imagine Barley is laughing at a joke his sister told him. Or perhaps one of the blueberry bush branches is poking him. Or maybe you don't know it's a blueberry bush. Maybe it's a cactus. Did you LOL yet?

This one could be funny or just plain cute. It would probably be cuter if she didn't look a little bit dead. Yes, we bury our cats in planter pots. We hope to grow new ones that are bigger and better.

This was supposed to be another yawning picture, but the shutter was a little slow, and caught the mouth half-closed. So he looks like maybe he's groaning. Either that or he's dying a slow and painful death. I prefer the former interpretation, however, as the latter brings back sad memories... **ahem**
SO there you have it. My cats would be proud to know they qualified for an LOLcatz blog post. If only they knew what that meant. But they don't. So they'll just be happy to live another day to nap in planter pots and laze around in the sunshine and provide another moment of entertainment for to brighten another dreary day.

The colors of late Summer

Summer is drawing to a close... But it will be a while until we feel the full effects of autumn. I set out this afternoon with a mission to play with my brother's camera. I wanted to capture some glimpses of what's left of summer. Unfortunately I also discovered that this particular camera STINKS on macro mode :P anyway...

^The mushiest room ever. ^

^Some tiny pink flowers. Really tiny ones. ^

^Purple purple purple... and pink and green. Poke Berries!^

I made my way down into the ravine at the bottom of the NW pasture. There I have a hideaway like you often read about in girly books and fairytales... but it's not a secret hiding place. I just told you about it :P

^The first sign of autumn. A red leaf.^

^but evidence summer has not left us yet.^

^One of the best places to disappear^

^A tree fell during this past spring^

^Tiny flowers decorate my paradise.^

And there's just a peek at what's left of summer... Leave a note ;)
